Shaker Wardrobe Door Dimensions
A 24 × 84-inch door has an unsplit 80.1875-inch-tall panel. With the centered planning rail, each of two panels is 38.9375 inches tall; the full-length stiles remain 84.0000 inches.
Should a tall wardrobe front be split into two panels?
A centered three-inch mid rail is a planning example that divides the tall insert into two equal panels. It does not shorten the outer stiles or establish a tested limit on warping.
Check the full-height and split-panel columns before ordering sheet material. The second option needs an additional rail and two separately retained panels; a center rail is not simply a line marked on the original tall insert.
The height-only hinge starting count is not a load-selection result. Include handles and the actual material weight when consulting the manufacturer. Outside the stated height range this page supplies no numeric count; the exact hardware chart must decide.

Two worked choices for this front
A broad wardrobe leaf: compare one tall panel with the two-panel construction and retain the full stile length.
Finished front 24" (24.0000) × 84" (84.0000); two stiles at 84" (84.0000), two rails at 20 1/4" (20.2500), cut panel 20 3/16" (20.1875) × 80 3/16" (80.1875).
Centered-rail option: each of two panels is 20 3/16" (20.1875) × 38 15/16" (38.9375). Hinge start by height: 5. Check one upper half-frame panel.
An extra-tall front beyond the height-rule ceiling: keep the panel arithmetic but defer hinge quantity to the hardware maker.
Finished front 24" (24.0000) × 96" (96.0000); two stiles at 96" (96.0000), two rails at 20 1/4" (20.2500), cut panel 20 3/16" (20.1875) × 92 3/16" (92.1875).
Centered-rail option: each of two panels is 20 3/16" (20.1875) × 44 15/16" (44.9375). Hinge start by height: Outside height-only rule; use manufacturer chart / weight. Check one upper half-frame panel.
Questions about shaker wardrobe door dimensions
Does adding a center rail guarantee that a tall door stays flat?
No. The centered rail is a planning layout. Material, construction, moisture conditions and the actual installation still govern behavior.
What happens above the height-only rule’s limit?
The numeric starting count is withheld. Use the exact manufacturer chart and door weight, including handles; extending the sequence would invent an unverified hardware recommendation.
Can I treat a height-only starting count as the required hinge quantity?
No. Height is only one input. Blum’s guidance also considers weight, width, material and the chosen hardware. Resolve the actual installation with that model’s documentation.
