Standard Shaker Door Dimensions

For the 15 × 30-inch finished door, the example frame gives a 11.2500-inch rail and a 11.1875 × 26.1875-inch panel. Use the matching finished-size row before sending parts to the saw.

Will the regular frame leave the panel proportions you want?

Treat standard as the name of this 2¼-inch design example, not a required industry size. Choose the finished outside rectangle before buying frame stock; cabinet openings belong in the kitchen sizing page.

Read across one row to keep a single door together: two full-height stiles, two rails of the listed cut length, and one panel. A rail blank includes its end tongues; the visible rail opening is shorter. Confirm your cutter on scrap before copying the plan.

For a run of cabinets, keep the same frame width only where the narrowest front still has the panel shape you want. The table is a set of planning examples, not a survey of commonly purchased doors.

Two worked choices for this front

A narrow wall cabinet: compare the panel with the rail blank before batching stock.

Finished front 15" (15.0000) × 30" (30.0000); two stiles at 30" (30.0000), two rails at 11 1/4" (11.2500), cut panel 11 3/16" (11.1875) × 26 3/16" (26.1875).

Height-only hinge starting count: 2; review actual weight and the selected model.

A taller front: retain the frame width and check the height-only hinge starting count separately.

Finished front 18" (18.0000) × 42" (42.0000); two stiles at 42" (42.0000), two rails at 14 1/4" (14.2500), cut panel 14 3/16" (14.1875) × 38 3/16" (38.1875).

Height-only hinge starting count: 3; review actual weight and the selected model.

Questions about standard shaker door dimensions

Is the standard frame width a manufacturing requirement?

No. It is this page’s design preset. Room style, panel proportions, available tooling and the hardware drawing determine the usable frame for an actual project.

Which dimension is the finished stile length?

The finished stile runs the full outside height. Rough-milling extra is a separate shop allowance and is not included in this finished-size table.

Can I substitute an opening measurement for a finished door?

First calculate the overlay or reveal. The kitchen and inset-versus-overlay tools establish the finished rectangle; return here to compare the frame parts.
